Intellect

Numeracy
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 1]
This skill allows the character to understand advanced mathematics and able to calculate complex sums in his head.
Note: All characters (except half-ogres perhaps) are assumed to have basic counting skills.

Literacy
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 3]
This skill gives the character the ability to read literary texts written in Glyph - the language of Keese.
Note that all characters are assumed to be able to read and write. This skill grants understanding of more complex tomes and texts.

Language
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 5]
This skill allows the character to be able to understand and converse in a language other than that of his homeland. Any character that was not raised in the Barony must purchase this skill to be able to understand anything said in Keese.

Area Knowledge
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 10]
This skill allows the character to have a good knowledge of the local area, its paths, fauna and flora. He is able to determine how to reach a location by the best route.
Someone in an adventuring party must have either this skill or Navigation.

Animal Knowledge
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 10]
This skill gives the character a good knowledge of the various creatures, monsters and races that inhabit this part of the world. In effect, it means the player can read the Bestiary and use the knowledge in character (although simply asking the ref is quite permissable).

Conceal Scent
[Single-use, base cost: 5]
This skill allows the character to be able to conceal the scent of one creature. The scent can be either removed entirely or changed to smell like that of another creature, preventing any tracking of the creature by that means.

Anatomy
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 10]
This skill allows the character to understand the basic workings of the human body, how it works and how it is put together.

Mage Skills - require Guild membership

Channel Power
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 10]
This skill allows the player to be able to channel magical energies through a hand-held object e.g. a weapon (staves are a favourite). Only a spell with range touch can be channelled.

Resist Divine Magic
[Single-use, base cost: level2]
When one relies on the power of intellect, religion and the gods become irrelevant and meaningless, and thus their power over you is greatly reduced. With this skill (bought at sufficient level), a mage can resist any spell he knows is Divine in origin.

Maintain Concentration
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 15]
This skill allows the spell caster to be able to move whilst casting spells. The spell will still be disrupted if he is struck however.
Note: This skill is also available in the Mysticism skill list.

Transcend Body
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 15]
This skill allows the character to be able to take damage without interrupting the casting of the spell. The spell will still be disrupted if he moves though.
Note: This skill is also available in the Mysticism skill list.

Arcane Lore
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 25]
This skill allows the character certain knowledge of the magical and arcane subjects. This skill is required to obtain any understanding of difficult magic, that of level 4 and above. This skill is also required when enchanting magical items.

Recover Power Points
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 25]
This skill allows the character to be able to recover his power points at a faster rate than normal. For every hour of resting, the mage is able to recover half of his used power points.

Prepare Magical Item
[Unlimited-use, base cost: 15 ; Pre-req: Arcane Lore]
This skill allows the character to prepare an item for magical enchantment. He must be present at the construction of the item to conduct the necessary rituals. The item must be made specifically, preferably by the mage, and certain specific conditions must be in place for the process. The details will be left up to the ref at the time.
Once the item has been prepared for enchantment, it must be charged up by having the desired spells cast into it. When the spells have been discharged the item must be prepared for recharging with a lesser form of the ritual.
